Autumn is upon us here on the West Coast of Canada in all of its splendor and glory. The final days of summer went with ease and grace. I am still sailing here on the coast with my woollies to keep me warm. Now is the time that I prepare my life to travel to the warmer parts of the world. Yesterday, my husband and I moved our 1913 wooden yacht Kalisha from her private mooring between Newcastle and Protection Island and brought her to the downtown boat basin for the winter. Kalisha is our wooden floating cottage and although I like having her on the mooring I also like having her downtown. I enjoy walking the sea wall, having friends visit and meeting people on the docks that admire old boats. Here she is: Introducing Kalisha built in 1913
I am excited about the upcoming adventures this winter and hold the vision that you will find a way to join us. I continue to ask myself: How do I choose to enhance the Quality of my Life! Exhilarating sheltered sailing through brilliant, turquoise waters in a sound lying between the world's longest barrier reef and the mainland. Absolutely sensational diving, snorkeling and fishing on those reefs. Hundreds of beautiful cays sprinkled along the barrier reef and well inshore, many of them unpopulated, some with great stands of palm trees and precious beaches. Very much like true south seas isles. Belize is more of a navigational challenge and thus this location is a good one for those of you that have a desire to upgrade your sailing skills and certification or just enjoy the beauty of this area. Take the thrill of sailing and then enter the jungle for an exciting nature experience. I keep going back because the sailing is awesome and the winds are perfect. The air and water temperature is fantastic for swimming and snorkeling. Sailing, snorkeling, diving, hiking and playing are easy. This year we will sail all of the BVI including Anegada and clear customs to sail over to St. John in the US Virgin Islands. The island is mostly park with incredible white sandy beaches and it is a treasure chest of interesting things to see. HERIZEN grads share their experience and stories best. Click here for the February & March 2008 Schedule Early Bird Prices Available Now! Sea of Cortez, Baja, Mexico Our trip earlier this year filled up quickly and turned out to be an amazing experience. Our days were filled with full on wild adventure in the Sea of Cortez. One morning while enjoying our yoga practice we were suddenly in the midst of whales jumping off the stern of our boat. Seal lions, dolphins and rays frolicked in the water around us. The contrast of majestic red colored rock cliffs with cactus clinging to find a foot hold, awe inspiring sunsets and brilliant star studded skies made this the best location for women that love the wild. Especially when someone else prepares it. Just kidding!. I like to cook on board and I also love it when others share their creative ideas. I am not sure about you....but food really does taste better when I am on the boat anchored in a beautiful harbour. I love the connection with others tasting fine foods and sharing an exquisite glass of wine. I am very blessed to have attracted many talented women that like to share their love for preparing food. Many have asked if we could share recipes. If you have a recipe or galley tip that you have discovered or created for the boat and you would like to share it with other women sailors please email it to me. Hmmmmm good! ************************************************************ THE ESSENCE OF CONFIDENCE As the days grow shorter and my days wind down here in Canada I take a moment to reflect. Upon this reflection I see the faces of all of the women that have crossed my path this year. I am deeply moved with joy, admiration and a sense of encouragement and confirm that I do really believe that anything is possible. I have learned a profound and deeper understanding of what the essence of Confidence really is. My observation is that any one can learn a skill and what is most important is having the Confidence to apply it in a way that is best suited for that women. My profound realization is there is another aspect. There is a difference between acting Confident and actually BEING Confident. Even if one feels fear the key to making this transition includes the willingness to move through the fear and do it anyway. The Essence of Self-Confidence is Self-Acceptance To assist you along the way: I believe that what I give freely will come back to me ten fold. If you would like to create more Self-Confidence in your life I invite you to do this by giving gifts of Confidence freely to yourself and others. Pay special attention to those around you. Start by focusing on another persons attributes, qualities and their values. Notice these qualities and acknowledge this person by offering a gift of Confidence. This may not be comfortable at first and gradually your Self-Confidence and ultimately Self-Acceptance will improve. Remember to give yourself the gift of Confidence. You can do this by writing down three of your successes from the day and or acknowledging your qualities and attributes. Celebrate You!
